Joseph Wirtz' Biography

Mr. Wirtz is the Founder and Executive Director of Mr. Wirtz and his programs have been endorsed by Chuck Colson, Dr. Norman Geisler, Dr. Paige Patterson, Hal Young (President of North Carolinians for Home Education [NCHE])
and most importantly by literally hundreds of homeschool parents and students that have participated in his programs.
Mr. Wirtz has been personally mentored by Chuck Colson and the Wilberforce Forum staff through their Centurions program, which focuses on preparing and discipling Christian worldview teachers. Mr. Wirtz has also been selected for inclusion into the 2005 and 2006 Who's Who Among America's Teachers registry.
Mr. Wirtz is an accomplished and veteran teacher with over 20 years of professional experience. This includes, adult and youth Sunday school, evangelism classes, worldview and Christian apologetics classes, opposing worldview classes, speech (Extemporaneous, Persuasive, Impromptu and Impromptu Apologetics) and debate (Team Policy and Lincoln-Douglas Value) classes, journalism classes, civics (Economics, Law and Politics [ELP]) and US Government classes, great books of Western history classes, environmental science classes, algebra and advanced math classes as well as formal and informal logic classes.
Since 2001, has taught over two thousand homeschooled children in North Carolina and more recently (2006) via his online tutorials that have attendees from coast-to-coast.
Mr. Wirtz founded his own speech and debate league in 2006 and has had hundreds of student participants statewide (North Carolina). Previous to that during his 5 year involvement with the National Christian Forensics and Communication Association (NCFCA) competition speech and debate league, he founded 10 clubs in that league and taught and coached those groups. Mr. Wirtz's students have qualified for the elite national homeschool tournament in all of the following speech and debate categories: Extemporaneous, Persuasive, Impromptu, Impromptu Apologetics, Team Policy and Lincoln-Douglas (LD) Value Debate. In 2004, The Cultural Commission qualified 6 debaters to the national tournament, which amounted to nearly 20% of the LD debaters at the tournament. Additionally in 2004, the #3 and #7 LD debaters in the nation and the #8 LD speaker in the nation were coached by Mr. Wirtz. In 2005, The Cultural Commission has again qualified 6 debaters to the national tournament. Mr. Wirtz also coached the winner of the 2005 Virginia National BETA Club Oratory Contest whom qualified for the National BETA Club competition as a result.
Mr. Wirtz is a published commentary writer on ethical and moral issues, with articles appearing in national forums such as American Family Association, Townhall.com, CBN.com, AgapePress and Christianity.com. Locally he has written for the Raleigh, Triad and Charlotte World Newspapers, North Carolina Christian Action League, and appeared on local North Carolina TV and radio stations.
Mr. Wirtz has been a youth pastor, Christian educational non-profit organization founder, North Carolina Coordinator for the National Day of Prayer, major prayer meeting planner and conductor, large youth camp organizer and conductor, evangelist, preacher, webmaster for multiple Christian ministry websites, apologetics and worldview seminar speaker and coordinator.
Mr. Wirtz's general experience includes 14 years in the United States Air Force including Active Duty, Reserve and Civil Service. He is a highly decorated Veteran of a Foreign War, serving in Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Teaching was his primary military responsibility from 1988-1998, where he taught more than 20 different types of classes. Most classes dealt with survival issues, such as how to prepare for, survive in and recover from a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical or Terrorist attack. Other classes taught included how to prepare for and recover from various natural disasters. He was officially recognized and decorated as an outstanding teacher on numerous occasions.
